Let’s dialogue

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Blogging sounds so simple so why am I having such a hard time getting started?  The more I think about it the more I believe it’s because I don’t really know what’s on your mind. I started Ask Dr. Harriet (and The Go-Go Girl, the alter-ego my podcast partner Ken created for me) because I am a woman on a mission.

I have a fantastic track record in coaching some of the world’s most wonderful people who have had so much going for them but for one reason or another were not achieving their dreams. I have been able to help most everyone to reach their dreams. That’s what I want to do for you. When I’m coaching, I know where a person is coming from, what they want, and what may be standing in the way. In other words, the information I need to help get you there.

So, here’s the invitation: let me know your situation, what you would like help with achieving, what you see standing in the way. Use any user name you desire. Then, let’s start the conversation.

Can procrastination be ‘predicted’?

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

At least one academic-type thinks so. In keeping with the subject of my last show, there’s an intriguing article over at Poynter Institute about a formula you can use (well, if you’re a scientist or something!) to determine who is most susceptible to procrastinate. Pretty neat stuff — though I don’t believe for one second that it works! Do you?

#6 - Now What?

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Why is grad school enrollment way up? One reason may surprise you. Can you say credentialing? Of course, if an employer pays the freight, all the better!

No doubt about it, a college education is very expensive. So you’d better make those dollars work. I’ll bet there are important people in your life urging you to be practical. You know, “make sure your education prepares you to earn a living.” My question to you is, what does practical mean today? What does it mean to you? How do you know what you have chosen to study is going to help you to succeed in the workplace?
